Dennis Meesters obtained his bachelor in Biomedical Research from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. After internships at the department of Internal Medicine (Immunology) and General Surgery he started working as research technician at the department of General Surgery on a project investigating the influence of nitric oxide on inflammation and microcirculation during sepsis. During this period he also started his PhD study within the Trauma surgery department on investigating the amino acid metabolism on (failure of) bone healing, under supervision of prof. Martijn Poeze, prof. Peter Brink and Nina Wijnands, PhD. Between 2015 and 2017 he combined this with working as a research assistant at the metabolic ward of the general surgery laboratory in which he focused on mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography analysis. Since July 2017 he started as laboratory manager and research assistant within the research group of prof. Ronit Shiri-Sverdlov.
