Magdalena Konopka, MSc (1991) was born in Kronach, Germany. She has obtained her bachelor in Health Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2015. She started her career as researcher at Maastricht University in 2016, participating in the master's program of Health Science (research). This two year master's program had a unique focus on healthcare innovation where she was trained to design, conduct and evaluate top-quality interdisciplinary research. The program covered a broad range of subjects, from prevention of illness, diagnosis and care, to cure and maintenance of good health.
After graduation Magdalena started her PhD in 2018 at the department of Complex Genetics and Epidemiology at Maastricht University. Her research focusses on disentangling the genetic and environmental risk factors of complex phenotypes of sport characteristics with the aim to translate these findings to the market. She works with and under supervision of prof. Maurice Zeegers, Anke Wesselius and Kelly Stewart, PhD.
