Mieke Henfling was trained as a laboratory technician with subspecialty clinical chemistry. After a short period at Leiden University she worked at the laboratory for clinical chemistry and hematology, Kerkrade Hospital, before receiving a position as a research technician at Maastricht University. Here she worked at the department of Immunology and for the past 22 years at the cluster Genetics and Molecular Cell Biology, department Molecular Cell Biology.
Her main expertise is in cell culture and analysis of cells and cell fractions by Flow Cytometry, immunohistochemistry, PAA gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting. She has been involved in projects in HPV and neuroendocrine tumor research. Main topics are the isolation of RNA and DNA from patient material to perform PCR and q RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry techniques on frozen and paraffin embedded material.
