Somaieh Ahmadian obtained her Pharmacy Doctorate, a six-year program by course and research, from Tabriz University Medical Sciences in 2007. Pharm.D. thesis were supervised by Prof. Omidi and Prof. Barar. In this project, she used polymeric nanoparticles to target EGFR in breast cancer cell line.
After obtaining her Pharm.D. degree she started working at Research Center for Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology in Iran and later in 2012 she joined Molecular Cell Biology department at Leiden University Medical Sciences where she studied Dystrophin role in neuromuscular junction using Drosophila melanogaster model under supervision of Prof. Noordermeer, Dr Fradkin and Dr Habbits. She studied dystrophin role in synapse of D. melanogaster via electrophysiology and Confocal Microscopy using CRISPR-CAS9 edited tagged larvae. In March 2018, she started her PhD at the department of Genetics and Cell Biology under the supervision of Prof. Bert Smeets, Prof. Marc van Zandvoort and Dr Florence van Tienen. The focus area of her research is ‘Mitochondrial Morphology and Function during Differentiation’.
